We gather with the choir to remember the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. The liturgy is marked by the remembrance of the washing of feet, the institution of the sacrament of Holy Eucharist and the stripping of the altar.
The Vigil in the Chapel of Repose throughout the night begins at 8:00 pm, following the service. “Could you not keep watch with me for one hour?” You are invited to sit in prayer in the chapel to pray with Jesus.
During Lent Stations of the Cross will be offered on Fridays at noon. Immediately following the Healing Prayer process of soaking prayer will be offered. You may wonder what is soaking prayer? It is an opportunity to rest in the Lord’s presence while prayer ministers stand behind you, place their hands on your shoulders, and silently intercede on your behalf, becoming vessels of God’s healing Spirit.
We meet for a three-part Good Friday liturgy comprised of the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross and Communion from the reserved sacrament.
We gather in the courtyard (weather permitting… chapel if not) for a short service of remembrance that draws us into the solemnness of the day as we remember Jesus lying in the tomb.
6:15 am
Join us for the Great Vigil of Easter on the front lawn (weather permitting…sanctuary if not)
9:45 am
We gather in the parish hall for Easter breakfast, a hospitable tradition of long standing at Good Shepherd.
11:00 am
The choir leads us in a joyful celebration of the Resurrection. Bring a flower to flower the cross and a bell to ring at the great Alleluia!
12:30 pm
Immediately following the service the children will meet on the front lawn for our annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Simple service with a devotional liturgy, 20 minute of silence, and closing prayers. Typically includes Eucharist once a month and brief book discussions on the other weeks.
We invite all to the 8:30 am in-person Eucharist. This service will also be shared via Facebook Live.
The Many Wonders of Hummingbirds
We warmly welcome back naturalist/author Stephen Lyn Bales to regale us with the many wonders of hummingbirds. After spending their winters in Central America, the tiny dynamos are due back in your yard any morning now. So get your sugar-water feeders ready, but remember they rely more on your hummingbird friendly flowers and the tiny insects they attract.
We invite all to the 11:00 am in-person Eucharist with music and choir.
